The Sower, the Seed, and the Soils -- Matthew 13:3–9      (P-5)^{Mark 4:3}“Harken: ^{Matthew 13:3b}Behold, a sower went forth to sow; ^4aAnd when he sowed, some seeds fell by the way side, ^{Luke 8:5} and it was trodden down,) ^{Matthew 13:4b} and the fowls came and devoured them up:

⁵“Some fell upon stony places (Luke -- a rock), where they had not much earth: and forthwith (Mark -- immediately) they sprung up.  Because they had no deepness of earth ⁶when the sun was up, they were scorched; and because they had no root, they withered away ^{Luke 8:6} because it lacked moisture.

^{Matthew 13:7}“And some fell among thorns; and the thorns sprung up, and choked them, ^{Mark 4:7}and it yielded no fruit:

The Development of the Kingdom    

The Growing Seed -- Mark 4:26–29           (P-6)

^{Mark 4:26}And He said, “So is the kingdom of God, as if a man should cast seed into the ground; ²⁷And should sleep, and rise night and day, and the seed should spring and grow up, he knoweth not how. ²⁸For the earth bringeth forth fruit of herself; first the blade, then the ear, after that the full corn in the ear. ²⁹But when the fruit is brought forth, immediately he putteth in the sickle, because the harvest is come.”

The Mustard Seed -- Mark 4:30–32           (P-7)

^{Mark 4:30}And He said, “Whereunto shall we liken the kingdom of God? Or with what comparison shall we compare it? ^31aIt is like a grain of mustard seed, which ^{Matthew 13:31}a man took, and sowed.  ^{Mark 4:31b}When it is sown in the earth, [it] is less than all the seeds that be in the earth: ^32aBut when it is sown, it groweth up, and becometh greater than all herbs, ^{Matthew 13:32}and becometh a tree, ^{Mark 4:32b}and shooteth out great branches; so that the fowls of the air may lodge ^{Matthew 13:32b}in the branches ^{Mark 4:32c}and under the shadow of it.”

The Value of the Kingdom

Hidden Treasure -- Matthew 13:44          (P-9)

^{Matthew 13:44} “Again, the kingdom of heaven is like unto treasure hid in a field; the which when a man hath found, he hideth, and for joy thereof goeth and selleth all that he hath, and buyeth that field.”

The Pearl of Great Price -- Matthew 13:45       (P-10)
